You are going to be out on the water, and the kind of day and the roughness or calmness of the water cannot be determined ahead of time. Prepare for every circumstance so that you can relax and enjoy your charter boat trip.

  • Apply sunscreen and re-apply when necessary, usually every 2 hours regardless of the SPF rating of the sunscreen. It is easy to get sunburned on the water, so make sure you don't forget this essential item. The sun is particularly intense in the tropics and water and even sand reflects the sun to make it even more intense. You can get burned in as little as 15 minutes without protection. Good news: we have sunscreen at a reasonable cost on the boat if you happen to forget yours.
  • Take Dramamine before your get on board if you are prone to getting sea sick. If you have never been on a boat before, assume you get seasick and take some Dramamine to ensure a pleasurable trip. As a more natural alternative, Ginger may reduce or eliminate the nausea. You can find Ginger pills in most stores that sell vitamins and supplements. There are certain wrist straps with pressure points that use some of the science of acupuncture (but just use point pressure - no needles) that many have found to help. The good news: most of the time we will be anchored in flat fairly shallow water that is unlikely to cause any problem.
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses. The sun's reflection off the water can be very intense, so protecting your face and eyes is very important.
  • Take your personal kite harness if you want to feel like you are kiting at home, even though we have kite harnesses onboard.

As with any international trip, you will need a passport and possibly a visa. We have another article that discusses some general information about passports (click here), but you are urged to check with your country's authority on passport and visa requirements.
